Unsuccessful Professors must unite and join UCID, the youngest and the weakest link party to tribalism.

By Hamud Duale

Professor Axmed Ismail Samatar failed to beat Somaliland, so he joined it, after preaching 30 years for the Somali unity. He put money, energy, and time for the revival of the old Somali republic. But, unfortunately in Muqdisho, he became the odd one out.

Likewise, Professor Cali Cabdiraxman Xirsi tried his best to activate the traditional unity of Somalia and Somaliland. But he failed to do so. In Muqdisho he was the odd one out, like Samatar. Eventually he retired to his locality, the grey area, Badhan, which is neither Somaliland nor Puntland, maybe hopeful for the reunification of the two regions.

In contrast to both these two professors, Professor Hussein Cabdillaahi Bulxan joined Somaliland from its grassroots beginnings, and fought tirelessly for strong governance in Somaliland (Qaran dhaama kii dume). But he never succeeded. He became the odd one out in Hargeysa. So he left it, after 30 years, seeking his personal interests, saying (saw in aan dantay waariyaa igu wanaag ma ah).

The same is true for many others, whom I have not the space or time to mention here. They are scattered all over the world, not united, like Professor Hamud Sheekh Cali Masheeye, who joined Somaliland partially and started to set up Awdal State within it; and Dr. Cali Khaliif Galayr who is behind Khatumo State. Both of them are hovering around, but have not the courage to join fully , like Samatar.

My friends, where there is a fire, there is hope. Where ever you are, don’t give up, stand up, stand up, stand up. Move forward and join the club , one of three in the Horn of Africa, KULMIYE, WADANi and UCID. Join UCID party, the youngest and the weakest link to tribalism.
