What If Silaanyo Loses?

If Axmed Silaanyo loses, the country will get on with its business. I can't think of many things more useless than finger-pointing among themselves. Our fragile nation has real problems to deal with. Personally, I'll be very disappointed if Silaanyo wins, but I'll be cheered by the fact that the country will have a substantially better leader than it does right now.

To address what will happen, Axmed Silanyo will come in as President over a significantly dispirited and disillusioned country, he will have no mandate since he offers no real change and it is pretty obvious he will muddle through his one term, frustrated that Slders don't recognize him as being a great leader and people will quickly tire of his war heroism shtick as evidence of leadership. Years ago he could have been great but his time for greatness is past. And if that’s not compelling enough, remember: He doesn’t play to win. He plays to conquer. Under his guidance, the public interest is always subjugated to his personal political advancement. And
he poisons Parliament with an extreme, bare-fanged breed of partisanship that has no hope of repair until he is banished. I have also wondered what would happen if people voted Muj. Silaanyo -- but always on the basis of flipping a coin or rolling dice. Would the situation be improved, worsened -- or be about the same? I think the answer is: be about the same! With fewer pundits employed of course -- and fewer minutes spent in political nonsense!

Kulmiye party have a somewhat of a motley crew of people who as one person would be perfect for the Somaliland; however apart they are nothing short of Hypocrites and unmarketable candidates. the corrupt party and heartless, yet another political scandal rocks the party again. A week ago, dispute arose between Mudane Axmed Siilaanyo & Mudane Muse Biixi., it is still unknown over what is, but it is not something new in kulmiye's party.

Silaanyo-Drain seems to have aged well beyond his years. He will not hesitate to pander, flip-flop, deny and double-cross to get that seat. However, his fitness to execute the most important office in the somaliland (still) is in serious doubt. He cannot even remember making statements a week before denying he made them. Anyone who seriously loves this country should put his/her ideology aside and seriously question this man's ability to solve some of the nation's most pressing problems.

I have a question back in my mind always. If Silaanyo is the "one", why did they feel they had to do overkill to eliminate Other parties by every means necessary? On CSI and Criminal Minds when they see crimes committed in this fashion they always say, "this is a crime of passion-this is overkill". So who did Silaanyo's thugs hate so much? other parties, the Constitution that they were willing to commit Federal Crimes by voter intimidation, and working against the wish of the people of Somaliland. Was it hate or having no power they fell in love with the desire for power and will grab power by any means necessary? Something very interesting things could happen that none of the criminals counted on: some develop a conscience, some turn states evidence to save their own hide, and so on.

You simply can’t consider what you were born with or without your merit or you failure. This is the most sinister thing here – that of an essentialist politics where one might be considered purer in their intentions than another simply by who was oppressed the most. What do you profess then "the identified"? A trading of oppressions? That’s what essentialist Somaliland's politics gives you; Qabill vs.Qabil; . And where are these problems to be solved? In the courts or by "Guurtis". And who do you think wins? Those who can't afford simply because the oppression is reasonably wrong? Think again. He pays … well you should know the rest. And where does the questions of ethics and justice come from? Do they fall from the sky? No they are developed in institutions like the one you and I reside,
in which we have given up the fight to maintain as a truly plural place, by those who can afford to go and FINISH their degrees. Welcome to hyper-Qabil politics of post-modernism or what I called neo-tribalism.

In order to win any elections in the near future, the kulmiye need the passion, vision and leadership of someone at the head of the party or the Committee. This person then needs to create a message centered on policies that can be achieved and to which the Sld people can relate. These ingredients must exist for any recipe of success. we can only hope and pray that justice prevails and all guilty parties will be dealt with accordingly. we are not about to throw our freedom away. And by the way the only thing that Axmed Silaanyo will be the president of, is the president of Gar'adaag "Guurti" at their retirement village where he'll be living after this election is over.

Regardless of what happens, I hope the bitterness can be put aside, so this fragile nation can get back on track. My fear is if Silaanyo wins, the other candidates will be unwilling to work with him. We will have to put aside our obsession with clan wars and identity politics. Change the subject whenever possible. Working families, not feminism, Classism, and most importantly not Clannish..

Somaliland rock On.
Peace, love and unity.
